'S.H.I.E.L.D.' Star Adrianne Palicki Weighs In On Whether We'll See Hawkeye

Plus, which 'Friday Night Lights' character would she want on the show?

When Adrianne Palicki was cast as Bobbi Morse, a.k.a. Mockingbird on "Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.," it seemed like it could be a one-and-done appearance. As it turns out, not only is Morse appearing in multiple episodes this season, her stint on the show's not ending any time soon.

"That has yet to be seen!" Palicki told MTV News when we asked her how many more episodes she'd be appearing for, during a recent phone conversation. "I’m hoping to be around for a long time."

Previously, the ABC show had included Marvel Universe characters on an episode-by-episode basis - and particularly for a fan-favorite like Mockingbird who was once rumored to have a series in development of her own, not to mention a burgeoning movie star like Palicki - it seemed we'd be getting the same deal.

Instead, Morse hasn't just stuck around with Coulson (Clark Gregg) and company... She's joined the newly revamped S.H.I.E.L.D. post-"Captain America: The Winter Soldier," and gotten an ongoing subplot involving fellow new cast member Lance Hunter (Nick Blood), who turns out to be her ex-husband.

"Nick is so fun and so funny!" Palicki said of her scenes opposite Blood. "I think I laughed for a whole half of those tapes."

In fact, Palicki lauded the jovial atmosphere in general on the set, adding that her scenes with Gregg and co-star Elizabeth Henstridge almost constantly have to be taken multiple times, "because we’re laughing so much."

Still, for fans of the comics, its not Bobbi Morse's relationship with Lance Hunter they know and love - it's Mockingbird's on-again off-again relationship with Hawkeye they're dying to see. And if Palicki gets her way, we'll see at least a taste of that. Whether Jeremy Renner, who portrays Hawkeye/Clint Barton on screen, stops by to make an appearance or not.

"It is a huge part of Mockingbird, of Bobbi Morse, so I’m hoping to see that relationship in the future," Palicki said. "So whether it’s getting Jeremy Renner on the show, or otherwise, you can’t really deny that’s a huge part of her character."

We won't be seeing Renner making a guest appearance this Tuesday (November 11), though, as S.H.I.E.L.D. is too busy dealing with the alien writing that's been consuming Coulson's mind for most of the season. And once the truth comes out - that the newly inducted director of their spy organization is losing his marbles - everyone has their own way of dealing with things.

"Bobbi goes out and kicks ass!" Palicki said, laughing. "You're going to see how she and Coulson hooked up – not hooked up, but started working together."

Speaking of working together, though Palicki has has innumerable roles over the year, in our hearts she'll always be Tyra Collette from Dillon, Texas. So playing a bit of fantasy casting, we asked the actress who from "Friday Night Lights" she'd most like to team up with on "S.H.I.E.L.D."

"You gotta bring on Riggs, could you imagine?" Palicki said. "Tim Riggins would be amazing. Taylor Kitsch would be pretty great too, he’s pretty bad-ass."

Hydra - we mean, Texas - forever.
