There is a major badgalriri renaissance (RIHnaissance? I'll accept it) happening right now and it is, honestly, the greatest thing in the world. First, over the weekend, Rihanna made her highly unexpected, but highly appreciated, return to Instagram. Then, she announced the release of another fragrance—Rogue Love—which, she promised, is coming soon. And, finally, she just released the cover and a few of the images from her Elle December spread.
The cover features Riri in a gown and bustier from Atelier Versace, with her hair pulled back and a dark lip. The article and accompanying spread, Elle says, is to introduce "the real Rihanna: strong, uncompromising, and radically beautiful."
Inside the magazine, Rih is "all dressed up in fall couture, but boldly stripped down." This shot, where she wears just a fur cape from Giambattista Valli Couture, encompasses that pretty perfectly, I'd say.
Here, in one of the few black-and-white shots, she wears a Alexandre Vauthier Couture dress with sheer paneling.
As if there were any debate, Rihanna reveals that, if she were a piece of jewelry, she'd "be a choker." Her double strand one here comes from Jennifer Fisher.
And, finally, as if she knew what we were wearing 24/7 to celebrate her return to Instagram, Rih wears a sweater and party hat by Schiaparelli Haute Couture. Tights as pants—a strong look for most—works, of course, for Rih.
Peep the rest of the photos and interview excerpts on Elle's website—the full issue will be released nationwide on November 18.
