The Indigo Girls and Sarah McLachlan are the latest guests

lined-up to add star power to Ellen Degeneres' Ellen sitcom.

Following on the heels of a recent episode in which actors Sean Penn and

Emma Thompson "came out" as gay, as well as past cameos from talk show

powerhouse Oprah Winfrey, actress Demi Moore and musicians k.d. lang

and Melissa Etheridge, the Lilith Fair performers will appear as

themselves in an episode tentatively slated for Jan. 7. The Indigo Girls

will perform the song "Shame on You" ... Ska rockers Reel Big Fish

will headline a concert/ Thanksgiving food drive on Nov. 26 at the Bren

Events Center at UC Irvine. Fans are asked to donate canned goods for the

2nd Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, Calif., with each person who brings

a can receiving a limited edition TAZ-designed silkscreen poster of the

event. Each can will also buy a raffle ticket that includes a chance to

win one of the band members as a slave for a day. Also performing at the

show are Blink 182, the Cherry Poppin' Daddies and The

Aquabats ...

Ambient experimenter Spacetime Continuum (a.k.a. Jonah Sharp)

will release the Realtime EP on Jan. 20. The track listing for the

four-song release is: "Microjam," "Neoteric," "Neoteric (Strange Attractor

mix)" and "Pressure," which was recorded live in Japan ... The latest from

Canadian punkers NOMEANSNO is called Would We Be Alive. The

EP features the title song which is a cover of the Residents' tune, plus three

NOMEANSNO originals, "You Are Not One," "Rise" and an alternate version of

"Big Dick" ... The latest album from West Coast rapper W.C., former

leader of W.C. & The MAAD Circle and recent member of the

Westside Connection, featuring Ice Cube and Mack 10,

is called The Shadiest One (late February). The first single will be

"Just Clownin' " and the album will feature guest spots from Cube,

Daz, The Dramatics, E-40 and Too Short ...

June of 44, featuring ex-members of Rodan, Hoover and

Coedine, as well as current members of Sonora Pine and

Rex, continue their experiments with sonic hypnosis on Four Great

Points (Jan. 20). The eight-track effort marches from

Tortoise-like ambient dub experiments ("Of Information & Belief,"

"Lifted Bells") to grittier, chaotic punk fare ("The Dexterity of Luck")

... "Given to Fly," the first single from Yield, the upcoming Pearl Jam

album, will be released to radio the first week of January ... Britpoppers Supergrass were forced

to cancel five dates on a U.K. tour due to an injury to drummer Danny

Goffey. Although the band's U.K. publicists have been advancing the

story that Goffey fractured his right hand when it was accidentally slammed

in a car door, England's New Musical Express reported on Tuesday

that Goffey has said that he injured the hand in anger while stuck in

London traffic, after being bumped by another vehicle, which he then struck

with his fist ...

Star Rise, an album of remixes of songs by late Qawwali master Nusrat Fateh Ali

Khan, will be released on Jan. 27. The

nine-track album features recordings by vocalist Khan and Michael

Brook remixed by Asian Underground artists Joi, Talvin Singh,

Asian Dub Foundation, Black Star Liner and The DHOL

Foundation & Fun-da-mental ... Britpop-rockers Oasis have added

two more dates to their 1998 North American tour, bringing the total

announced so far to 14. The new dates are Jan. 18 at Minneapolis' Northrop

Auditorium and Feb. 5 at the WPB Auditorium in West Palm Beach, Fla

...Red Hot Chili Peppers vocalist Anthony Kiedis, still

recovering from a shattered wrist sustained in July in a motorcycle

accident, was in San Francisco last weekend checking out Perry Farrell's

ENIT festival. Hanging with Chili Peppers bandmates bassist Flea and

guitarist Dave Navarro, backstage, Kiedis, who recently moved to

Northern California, was also seen shopping with Navarro on the famed '60s

hippie hangout Haight street.
