We know for a fact that Nas is working on a new album, but he's been pretty tightlipped about the details so far. He hasn't shared any music from the project until Wednesday night, when he made a surprise appearance at Killer Mike and El-P’s Run the Jewels event in Brooklyn to preview "The Season."
Nasir took the stage and paid his respects to the two MCs, explaining that his current musical vibe was on the same wavelength as theirs. "I've been watching them do their thing and even feeling like this is something that inspires me," he said.
"I wanted to share a new record here cause this is the type of feel that I'm in. What they're doing, I'd like to say that I'm doing that kind of sound."
"The Season" finds Nas rapping over a J. Dilla beat, where he addresses those rumors that Jay Electronica has been his ghostwriter, spitting, “Jay Elec doesn’t write it/Hov couldn’t write it, he vacationing/Jungle the only brother I take sh-- from.”
Check out the preview above.
