Many fans -- myself included -- want to know the secret of becoming Taylor Swift's close friend. You know, like a Lena Dunham or Selena Gomez. On "The View" Wednesday (October 29), Taylor revealed the most important trait you need in order to be her pal.

"I look for people who have their own passion in life," she told the ladies of "The View," going on to explain why she gets along with BFF Lena Dunham. "We really relate because we're writers first and foremost, and also we're just super enthusiastic about everything."

Most of the 1989 singer's friends are other songwriters -- Ingrid Michaelson, Ed Sheeran -- and actors -- Sarah Hyland, Selena, Hailee Steinfeld -- each artists and individuals busy pursuing what they want. And that, to Taylor, is the most important thing you can do as a friend.

"My friends -- they all are chasing their own dreams," Taylor said. "They all have their own ambitions, and that's what fuels you. You're supposed to surround yourself with people who challenge you, motivate you and make you want to be smarter, stronger, better."
