News Flash: High Flying End To The Verve's U. S. Tour

The Verve brought their U. S. tour to a close last night with a loose, exuberant performance at San Francisco's Warfield Theater that had fans transfixed. Barefoot leader Richard Ashcroft oozed charisma as he and his bandmates cranked the volume to 11, armed with enough gear to fill a stadium and played a generous number of songs off their latest album, Urban Hymns, including "Bitter Sweet Symphony," "The Drugs Don't Work" and "The Rolling People." A full report from the show by Addicted To Noise Senior Writer Gil Kaufman will go online later today. [Fri., Nov. 21, 1997, 9 a.m. PDT]
