WARNING: Spoilers Ahead!
Someone forgot to teach the "all men must die" lesson to Tywin Lannister.
"I'm not completely missing out on the next series. More than that, I'm not going to say," Dance teased. "You haven't seen the last of Tywin Lannister, is all I'll say."
Wait … what? Really? Really. Watch the video if you don't believe it:
So, Dance is not "completely missing out" on the next season of "Thrones." What does that mean, exactly? Let's break down the possibilities.
Could Tywin have survived getting gut-shot on the privy by his own son Tyrion? It's possible, but not likely. But even in death, Tywin could still haunt "Thrones." Even after he died, Joffrey Baratheon's corpse was on full display for multiple scenes in the following episode. Perhaps that's all we're getting out of Dance's return — some glorified shots of Tywin's dead body.
But there's another possibility to consider, and it involves mentioning some minor spoilers from the books. Previous casting notices for season five of "Game of Thrones" made mention of Maggy the Frog, described as a "fortune teller in 'A Feast for Crows,' she'll be in one episode next year." Book readers remember Maggy best for the big role she plays in Cersei Lannister's past — indicating that season five could feature a flashback scene or two. If that's the case, will we see a very much alive Tywin Lannister, albeit a younger version of the almighty lion?
However it shakes out, it sounds like Dance's dance with dragons isn't quite over yet. We'll see how he factors into the new season when "Thrones" returns in 2015.
