Lily Collins' 'Marie Claire UK' Dress Reminds Us Of Something...
Lily Collins is a beautiful girl. She has the kind of eyebrows I would literally harm someone to obtain. Also, she probably got the BEST lullabies growing up. And she's a very talented actress in her own right. She's impeccably dressed, both on and off the red carpet, on screen, and in magazines. Take this feature in the October issue of Marie Claire UK for example.
She's sporting a sassy short haircut and some of the best togs Fall/Winter 2014 has to offer.
Like this metallic butterfly print, vaguely chinoiserie mini.
Or this sheer overlay gown situation.
Oh, right, also, she wears this dress. Ohhhhhh, this dress... Don't get me wrong, I love Christopher Kane—the designer behind this little number. The London-based Scottish designer is always pushing the fashion envelope and is heavily responsible for the wider adoption of trends like neon lace-motif, laser-cut leather, photo prints as fabric patterns, and SO. MUCH. MORE.
Does that mean that squiggly "sleeves" will trend in the near future? You know, I really can't say. What I can say, though, is that it reminds me of...something.
And that "something" is a uterus. OK??? Lily Collins' Christopher Kane dress reminds me of a drawing of a uterus in a high school sex ed class.
This is what it looked like on the runway. With the model's arms hanging down on her sides, it looks slightly less uterine. Only slightly. But Lily's hands on her hips is really driving home the anatomical imagery for me.
Here's another look at the dress. Now with a uterus next to it.
AM I ALONE HERE?!?!??! And while we're on the topic, let's take a moment to remember Princess Beatrice's uterus Royal Wedding hat from 2011. GOODBYE.
