This 'Orange Is The New Black' Writer Divorced Her Husband And Fell For An Actress On The Show

Lauren Morelli had a revelation while writing the hit series.

One "Orange is the New Black" writer has taken the show's themes to heart. Literally.

Lauren Morelli recently filed for divorce from her husband of two years after penning Piper (Taylor Schilling) and Alex's (Laura Prepon) relationship helped her realize she's a lesbian. Through her writing, Morelli said, "I found a mouthpiece for my own desires and a glimmer of what my future could look like."

The divorce, filed jointly, is said to be amicable. And the serendipity doesn't stop at life imitating art on the page -- Morelli found her next love right on set. She's now dating Samira Wiley, who plays Poussey on the hit Netflix show.

For her part, Morelli is taking the (very public) transition in trademark hilarious stride.

I guess life does imitate art!
