'The Witch Hunter' Cover Has Us Ready For Halloween

This isn't a trick -- this new YA book is a treat.

You guys, Halloween is basically waving at us from just over that spooky, skeleton tree-topped hill over there, which means it's time for this...

...and also checking out the brand-new cover for the upcoming YA magic-packed tome, "Witch Hunter," by Virginia Boecker. Lucky for you, guys and ghouls, we have it right here. Let's all take a few moments to bask in the glory and beauty...

Fire! Mythic symbols! The cover alone seems reason enough to pick up this book. Bonus, though, the novel itself also sounds pretty rad. Billed as "Graceling" meets "Game Of Thrones," the book tells the tale of master witch hunter Elizabeth Grey -- and what happens when she's accused of being a witch herself. In exchange for not dying a horrible death -- burning on a stake, yikes -- Grey has to help a powerful wizard break free from a deadly curse.

"The first time I saw the cover, I gasped," Boecker told MTV News. "[Cover artist] Mark Swan took great care in selecting this particular image from within the book, which is the alchemical glyph for the creation of the Philosopher’s Stone. The symbol signifies change, and in 'The Witch Hunter' I repurposed it for the Reformists -- the pro-magic group in the story -- to use as their badge."

"I love the movement and inherent conflict of the fiery snake -- an Ouroboros -- but the smaller touches are what really make the design come alive," she added. "The background falling into ash, the title treatment hewn from stone. Combined with the glyph, they do a beautiful job of symbolizing the conflict, the danger, and the transformation the characters go through within the story. I hope you like it as much as I do!"

We do! We do!

The book doesn't come out until June 2015, but lucky for you, Goodreads is giving away some advance copies of the novel RIGHT NOW. I think that news calls for a little bit more of this...
