Ralph Lauren Responds To Kanye West's 'It Ain't Ralph, Though' Line

In the tensest moment of Kanye West’s now-infamous 34-minute interview with Sway Calloway, Yeezy belted out, "It ain't Ralph, though!"

His reference to design titan Ralph Lauren was Kanye's response to Sway asking why he was ranting about no one opening doors for him in the fashion industry when he could have been putting all of his energy and funds into his own line—a move that Sway did himself, when he released his own clothing line. Kanye fired back at Sway that his clothing label wasn't on par with Ralph Lauren and went on to lament the production cost of creating a line from the ground up, explaining why he needed a platform as big as Nike to create his designs.

Almost a year later, Ralph Lauren has finally responded to Kanye's compliment by way of rant. In an interview with Style.com, the publication's editor-in-chief Dirk Standen asked Ralph what he thought of Kanye using his name as the barometer of quality and reach. Ralph's take on it: "That’s very cool. Well, that’s great. If I were to cater to Kanye, he would know that I’m catering to him. The fact that I make what I make—he gets it. He gets the quality and he respects it. And I think that’s the key, why I work all the time is to do that. That’s the fun."

Now that Ralph's on board with Kanye's respect for him, might this open the door for a collaboration? We know Kanye's hands are tied up at the moment with Adidas, but—just saying—if Ye wants a runway partner, it'd be pretty cool if he could make clothes that are truly Ralph-level.

In the meantime, we'll just be obsessively counting down the days until the Yeezys 3 drop.
