"Game of Thrones" has become famous for its plethora of characters and plot lines, but there's one crucial main character who might not be part of the picture when the show returns for season five: Bran Stark.
Kristian Nairn, who plays Bran's wordsmith bodyguard Hodor, told Yahoo! News that both he and Isaac Hempstead Wright would be taking the year off, due to the fact that their characters' story arc has now caught up to George R. R. Martin's books.
"We have a season off and we have a year's hiatus, solely because I imagine our storyline is up to the end of the books," the actor-slash-DJ said. "So, I get my year off now to do Rave of Thrones and gallivant all over the world."
This is, to put it mildly, insane. We knew that many plot lines were running dangerously close to the source material -- here's looking at you, Theon -- but the show has changed around and added so much to its story that we always kind of figured that Bran would stick around.
For the record, MTV News did reach out to HBO to confirm or deny this report, but they refused to comment with anything but this single word: "Hodor."
