Beyonce’s Dad Thinks Jay Z And Solange’s Elevator Fight Was A Publicity Stunt

Mathew Knowles has some interesting theories.

We’re still pretty high off Beyoncé and her spectacular performance at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards, and now, here comes her (reportedly estranged) father, Mathew Knowles, sharing some really odd thoughts.

During a visit to the Roula and Ryan Show on 104.1 in Houston, Knowles (who formerly managed Bey and Destiny’s Child), told the hosts he’s pretty sure that whole elevator fight between Jay Z and Solange might’ve been a publicity stunt. What?

There have been hundreds of conspiracy theories around the now infamous footage, but I’ll say this is the first time I’ve heard someone take it there. And Bey and Solange’s father of all people.

“It’s called a Jedi mind trick,” he said, adding that it fueled sales for Jay and Bey’s On the Run Tour. “The Jedi mind tricks fools you a lot of times, so things you see sometimes are [makes noise that sounds like 'poof']. Everybody’s talking about it, ticket sales went up, and Solange’s album sales went up 200 percent.”

The next part is even more, um, interesting considering that his previous statement will probably piss off his daughters.

“I still am the manager of Destiny’s Child,” he said. “And when you see Destiny’s Child on TV and see them doing songs together, slowly — now they’ve done two, they were recently on TV — I don’t know, [there] might be another Destiny’s Child album coming. There might be this tour that makes history, that’s Destiny Child featuring Beyoncé, Kelly and Michelle. Can you imagine what that would be like?”

It sounds like someone will be watching from the sidelines if this does happen.
