Fashion people are a lot like cats—at least in that you never expect to see them get wet. Last year when it rained at NYFW right before Marc Jacobs' spring show, the terrible weather was almost as big of a talking point as the clothes. No one wants to sit next to a wet fashion editor. But if the ALS ice bucket challenge has taught us anything, it's that fashion people WILL brave a little water for a good cause.
Enter Donatella Versace, who's the latest fashion kingpin (queenpin?) to follow in Carine Roitfeld and Anna Wintour’s icy (heh) wake. The Versace designer did the ALS ice bucket challenge in the most Versace way possible—would you expect anything less?—next to two topless Adonis-like men clad in Versace medallions and boxers. The water, of course, flowed out of two Versace vases that are probably the fanciest "buckets" anyone has used for the challenge thus far. I'm only surprised the ice didn't have flecks of gold in it.
Donatella's intro was just as good as her #bucketstyle: "Guys, this is not just about ruining my makeup, donate to ALS!" As for her nominations? Sadly Anna Dello Russo wasn't on the list, but she did challenge a few of our faves: Pharrell, Prince, and Pedro Almodovar. (And, yes, Pharrell wearing that giant hat would be cheating.)
