Jay Z Requested Beats From DJ Mustard

The big leagues.

In the past six months, just about everybody has wanted DJ Mustard on the beat, and now that includes Jay Z as well.

Mustard was the house DJ at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night, and when he walked down the red carpet he told MTV News that Hov sent him an email this week asking for a few of his prized beats.

And what did Hov say to him, exactly? “Send me some beats, you ready for the big leagues now.”

Sounds about right.

Of course, Mustard says he didn’t know exactly where those beats would end up, so he picked out a choice few: “I just sent him the stuff that I think he might like.”

And now that Mustard has released his own solo album, 10 Summers,, he said he’s back to working on a million other projects, including Lil Wayne’s upcoming release, Tha Carter V. Other collaborators on his wish list include Calvin Harris and Sam Smith. Soon, Mustard will literally be on every beat.

On Sunday night, Jay made an appearance at the VMAs to present Beyoncé with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
