Is Chris Brown's New Single About His On-Again, Off-Again Relationship With Karrueche Tran?

The title track from X is here.

Chris Brown's love life has been on public display for years now. And his on-again, off-again relationship with Karrueche Tran grabs headlines regularly, including this week, when the singer wrote on Instagram that the two "need to have this baby and stop playing."

On Friday (August 22), the title track from his upcoming album, X hit SoundCloud and though the new single doesn't mention Karrueche by name, it sure sounds like it could be about her -- and something anyone in a once-broken relationship or one with a sticky history can relate to.

The song starts as a somber R&B endeavor, with Breezy singing lyrics that are sonically soothing but lyrically harsh: "If you're only as good as the company you keep/ Then I'mma blame you for what they say about me," he opens, later adding, "I can see from this high up, you ain't got a heart, girl/ Privacy is for a cheater, obviously you're deceiving."

And then, about a third of the way through the song, the tempo speeds up and EDM stylings are infused in the beat, giving the song a new, more aggressive feel, in lieu of the melancholy one it begis with. "I swear to God I'm moving on!" he shouts, adding, "I ain't goin' back no more."

X hits stores on September 16.
