At the Emmy Awards this Monday, it was announced that actor Billy Crystal will present a tribute to Robin Williams during the annual In Memoriam segment of the show, while musicial Sara Bareilles performs. While Crystal is well known for his hosting abilities, he’s an especially good choice to memorialize Williams, who was found dead in his home at the age of 63 earlier this month, because the two shared a decades-long friendship.
From their days as TV stars in the early ’80s until Williams’ death, the two comedians enjoyed a warm friendship, often goofing off at parties and appearing on red carpets together. Ahead, check out 33 pictures from the 30-plus years of frienship Williams and Crystal shared.
The friends rose to prominence on ABC shows, Crystal on “Soap” and Williams on “Mork & Mindy.”
Alongside comedian Whoopi Goldberg, Williams and Crystal hosted the first Comic Relief telethon to raise money for the homeless.
