It’s ‘All About’ Meghan Trainor As ‘Bass’ Hits #1

She's got that boom boom boom.

Attention! Attention! There is a last-minute addition to the Song Of The Summer race, and now it’s got the #1 title belt to prove it. After sneaking up to #2 last week, Meghan Trainor’s love-your-body anthem, “All About That Bass,” will take the top spot on the Billboard Digital Songs chart this week thanks to sales of 197,000.

Bass In Your Face
With sales up 17 percent from last week, Trainor’s booming, girl group-style homage to all the right curves pushed Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj’s “Bang Bang” down to #2 after just one week at the top (141,000, down 39 percent).

Nicki had no complaints, though, as her new single, “Anaconda” — which she will perform at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, August 24 — debuted at #3 on sales of 141,000 while the rest of the tally was mostly static. Sam Smith hung at #4 with “Stay With Me” (123,000) and MAGIC!’s “Rude” chilled at #5 (122,000). Iggy Azalea doubled-down too, as her “Black Widow” moved up one to #7 (106,000) and smash “Fancy” moved down one to #8 (98,000).

“Guardians” Mixtape Goes All The Way
How much do people love “Guardians of the Galaxy”? So much that the all-oldies throwback soundtrack, Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 will move up to #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart this week thanks to sales of 109,000, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan.

Just behind is the Now 51 compilation (#2, 94,000), the latest from rockers Godsmack, 1000HP (#3, 58,000) and the first new album in four years from Spoon, They Want My Soul (#4, 39,000). Sneaking into the top 10 at #10 is the Somebody to You EP from MTV Artist To Watch The Vamps, which sold just under 20,000 copies.
