'Game Of Thrones' Actor J.J. Murphy Dies At Age 86

He was only four days into filming his role on the series.

New "Game of Thrones" castmember J.J. Murphy has passed away.

The 86-year-old actor collapsed and died Friday, August 8, only four days into filming his role in "Game of Thrones," according to the Belfast Telegraph.

He was set to play Ser Denys Mallister in the fifth season of "Game of Thrones." Mallister is the oldest commander of the Night's Watch.

Murphy was a Northern Ireland native who was an acclaimed theater actor. He had also started to make a name for himself in some big projects, with both "Game of Thrones" and "Dracula Untold," out later this year.

The role of Mallister would most likely be a fairly major supporting role for the next season, as Mallister finds himself as one of the next in line to become Lord Commander of the Night's Watch. There is no word yet on HBO's plans to recast the part.
