Yes, rap gets competitive, but it should never get this competitive. On Saturday, a music video shoot in Bronx, New York, involving two aspiring professional rappers ended in gunfire, after they argued over who was the better MC.
Neither the victim nor gunman have been identified, but surveillance footage of the shooting surfaced on YouTube on Monday and it's pretty brutal. The men started the night shooting a collaborative video on Webster Avenue, but later ended up arguing before they made their way to a nearby deli where the shooting occurred.
"They were fighting over who's the star, who's better," the Deli's owner told the New York Daily News after the shooting. "They were drunk. They spit at each other, then one guy pulled out a gun and shot the other guy five times."
The 43-second surveillance footage (which you can watch here) shows the shooter standing over his victim letting off a number of shots, while holding a drink in his left hand. When the assailant is done firing, he walks up to the victim and pistol whips four times before stepping over him to exit the deli.
The victim was later taken to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition, while the shooter is still at large.
