Coldplay Donated $17,000 To A Terminally Ill Fan

And they dedicated a song to him, too.

With a massive donation and tons of support, Coldplay are helping one fan reach his fundraising goal for research into an incurable, terminal disease.

The band has donated $17,000 to Briton Jody Duff, a wheelchair-bound fan suffering from motor neurone disease, according to Billboard. Motor neurone disease is a condition that affects the nerves in the brain and the spinal cord, and Duff is raising money on JustGiving for the Motor Neurone Disease Association, which is looking for a cure while also providing help to sufferers. With Coldplay's assistance, the fan has reached 82% of his roughly $40,000 goal -- a target he hiked up after the influx of funds from the band and fans.

Chris Martin and Coldplay have also tweeted in support of the campaign and, according to The Mirror, invited Duff backstage to meet the group and other celebs. Martin also dedicated the song "Fix You" to the 37-year-old fan at London's Royal Albert Hall during the band's show earlier this month.

“We just want to send him, from us and from all of you, as much love as we possibly can," Martin said to the audience.
