"There's only one question we need to ask, isn't there? Which of our parents do we kill first?"
A three-species war came to the French Quarter at the end of season one of "The Originals," but from the looks of the new trailer debuted at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, losing Klaus' baby to the witches was child's play compared to what's to come when the show returns next fall:
Got all that? Basically, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies) will have approximately a zillion villains to deal with when their "Vampire Diaries" spin-off returns next fall. From their vampire-hating (and hunting) resurrected father to the werewolves who took over the Quarter (and left Klaus defenseless) to Marcel's new army to even Hayley, who is still mourning the loss of her daughter and adjusting to life as a Hybrid, everybody seems to have a bone to pick with everybody else. It's madness.
Then, of course, there's also the addition of new (or new to this show, anyway) faces for the show's sophomore season. Everybody knew that Mama Esther and one Mikaelson son -- and we assumed it was older brother Finn at the time -- would return due to season one's cliffhanger, but now, given the availability of actor Nathaniel Buzolic after his "Supernatural" spin-off was canceled, it looks like it might be Kol instead. But it won't be his mother's face he'll be seeing if he comes back to life -- Esther's body, following the collapse of the Other Side, seems to have possessed a pixie-looking young witch, which should be interesting.
Oh, and did everybody else catch Claire Freaking Holt -- whose departure as Rebekah broke our hearts in season one -- and erstwhile "Teen Wolf" star Daniel Sharman as a hot witch coming to romance Davina? YUM:
"The Originals" will return will return Monday, October 8 to The CW.
