The boys are back in hot water in the first official trailer for “Hot Tub Time Machine 2.”
The clip begins with a quick recap of 2010’s “Hot Tub Time Machine” before flashing forward to the time-rippled effects of the guys’ first trip back in time to the year 1986.
Rob Corddry’s Lou is now a gazillionaire who calls himself the “father of the Internet” and Craig Robinson’s Nick is an award-winning songwriter who wrote the Black Eyed Peas’ “Let’s Get It Started.”
Unfortunately, an unknown man shoots Lou, prompting Clark Duke’s Jacob’s suggestion that the guys crank up their trusted hot tub time machine to make things right.
Things get interesting from there, though, because instead of going back in time, they jump to the future to the year 2024, where they get into a whole new set of hilarious situations with new cast member Adam Scott.
“The hot tub doesn’t take you where you wanna go, it takes you where you need to go,” time machine repairman Chevy Chase reminds them.
The green-band trailer for the time-travel comedy sequel was played during Paramount’s Hall H panel Thursday (July 24) at San Diego Comic-Con.
“Hot Tub Time Machine 2” hits theaters this Christmas.
