Yuss! The official, full-length trailer for Justin Simien’s “Dear White People” is finally here. The movie, which began its cinematic life as a concept trailer back in 2012, won’t hit theaters until October 17, but it’s already garnered plenty of buzz on the film-festival circuit. It even won the Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Talent at Sundance back in January. I repeat — yuss.
Billing itself as “a satire about being a black face in a white place,” “Dear White People” follows its cast of students around the fictional, predominantly white Winchester College — microaggressions and all. Check out all the never-been-seen clips in the trailer below, including one hilarious exchange regarding Sam White (Tessa Thompson, “Veronica Mars”) and how she maybe-sorta-kinda listens to Taylor Swift when she’s all alone.
