John Green To Be Honored With 'The Visionary Award' At This Year's Fandom Awards

Coming to San Diego Comic-Con? You can watch him accept it.

His books have made you laugh a lot and cry even more, and now "The Fault In Our Stars" author John Green will be honored with the Visionary Award at this year's mtvU Fandom Awards during San Diego Comic-Con.

The Visionary Award, which is awarded to a creator whose work has inspired and moved fans worldwide, will be presented to Green at the ceremony at Petco Park July 24. (Highlights from the Fandom Awards will air July 27.) Though the author won't be in attendance at Petco, he will be accepting the award during the on-air broadcast Sunday, July 27 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Green is not only being honored for making us cry our eyes out with his writing, but also for the community of fans that he's built through social media and personal appearances, a passionate base that goes by the name of "nerdfighters."

“I am lucky enough to have been a member of some sort of fandom at every stage in my life, so receiving this award means a great deal to me," Green said. “The communities of people who unironically love a television show, or a movie, or a game, or a singer, or a book know how meaningful, supportive, and creative fandom can be. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read my books and for the support the TFiOS movie has received this summer."

Jenna Dewan-Tatum will present Green's award. Her husband, Channing Tatum, will also be on hand alongside Diego Luna to show off an exclusive new clip from "The Book Of Life." Be sure to explore all the categories for the Fandom Awards and cast your vote for your favorite!
