Think a flight delay is bad? Imagine having to spend seven hours on a plane when it was only supposed to take three -- all next to a bunch of hot, agitated, hungry strangers.
When passengers on a Denver-bound aircraft in Washington D.C. stopped in Cheyenne, Wyoming, for an emergency fueling, they were held on the tarmac for hours on the already-delayed plane. Weather conditions had forced them to reroute.
That's when the captain surprised everyone with pizza. According to Fox affiliate KDVR, Gerhard Brandner ordered 50 Domino's pies for about 160 passengers.
“The captain took his own initiative,” said passenger Logan Marie Torres. "He said, 'Ladies and gentleman, Frontier Airlines is known for being one of the cheapest airlines in the U.S., but your captain is not cheap. I just ordered pizza for the entire plane.' ”
And although they didn't get back to Denver five hours after they were supposed to, at least they were nourished.
