Hilary Duff Might Have The Song Of The Summer: Listen

The singer teased some breezy new music.

Hey now, this is what dreams are made of. After dropping hints about her yet-to-be-titled fifth studio album for what feels like forever, Hilary Duff is teasing what appears to be a song off of the LP in a new video Instagrammed late on Thursday (June 26) following a night of "studio werkin."

Getting up close to an amp with some guitars and a drumstick piled on top of it, Hilary captions: "There's a pretty cool sound coming out of this thing @tobygadmusic" Pretty cool? With that catchy guitar riff, this sound is downright breezy.

Make sure to turn that volume up, because under the instrumental there's a faint audio recording of what sounds like Our Lady of ONTD Walking Posts singing a melody.

If this truly is the former "Lizzie McGuire" star's new single -- her first since 2008's "Reach Out" -- then it might very well be a contender for song of the summer.

It has got quite the impressive pedigree, if the "@tobygadmusic" tag is any indication. Toby Gad is a songwriter and producer who's worked with everyone from Fergie ("Big Girls Don't Cry") and Beyoncé ("If I Were A Boy") to Selena Gomez ("A Year Without Rain") and Demi Lovato ("Skyscraper"). Maybe you've heard of them?

So, is this Hilary's long-awaited new single? My heart says "YES OMG PLZ PLZ PLZ," but my head says we'll just have to wait and see. The timing does make sense, as the 26-year-old singer told MTV back in May that she'd have a single "soon."
