So, am I not allowed to have emotionally stable Monday or something? First, Robin Thicke gets all gloomy and beat up in the thoroughly depressing "Get Her Back" video, and now 5 Seconds Of Summer have hopped aboard the sadness express with their regret-filled new ballad, "Amnesia."
All I need now is for my dog to DM me, saying "Lol, it's not working out. Bye." and today will be complete.
The new track -- co-written by Good Charlotte's Benji and Joel Madden, among others -- sees the members of the Australian pop/rock band haunted by the memories of a failed relationship, praying for something to wipe the pain away. "I wish that I could wake up with amnesia/ And forget about the stupid little things/ Like the way it felt to fall asleep next to you/ And the memories I never can escape/ 'Cause I'm not fine at all."
Ugh, now that's the kind of heartbreak not even a truckload of free American Apparel underwear can erase.
The "Don't Stop" singers' debut full-length album, 5 Seconds Of Summer, will be released in the U.S. on July 22. If "Amnesia" is any indication, you better start bracing for emotional impact, like, now.
