Katy Perry’s Prismatic Tour Made Us ’90s Kids Nostalgic

The first night of her North American tour had us feeling misty-eyed.

RALEIGH, North Carolina — With her candy boobs and brightly colored wigs, Katy Perry seems like the eternal child — remember how in “Part Of Me” she said she was 16 at heart? Of course you do. You’ve only seen it, like, 40 times.

At the kickoff of the North American leg of her Prismatic World Tour on Sunday, however, we were reminded that Perry was born in the ’80s, as her seriously Instagram-worthy performance had all of us ’90s kids in the house missing our childhoods something fierce.

As the Katy Cats grooved to Perry’s two-hour-long, career-spanning performance — she opened with “Roar” and closed with “Firework” — those among us who remember that most nostalgic of decades saw our lives (colorfully) flash before our eyes.
