With filming on "Episode VII" underway, the new "Star Wars" trilogy is taking shape, and a new report claims that a director has already been found for the next installment.
Deadline first reported that "Looper" writer/director Rian Johnson is set to helm both "Star Wars: Episode VIII" and "Star Wars: Episode IX." Since that first story broke, reporters from both The Hollywood Reporter and The Wrap have claimed that Johnson is only directing "Episode VII." THR suggests that he will write a treatment — so basically writing the story — for the trilogy's conclusion.
Soon after the announcement, Johnson tweeted this clip from "The Right Stuff" without context.
"Star Wars: Episode VIII" is currently scheduled to hit theaters in 2017.
