At the moment, Robert Downey Jr. is busy reuniting with Earth's other mightiest heroes on the set of "The Avengers: Age of Ultron." But before we see him teamed up again with Captain America and the Hulk, the erstwhile Tony Stark will bring his signature snark to a very different kind of film.
Downey is the star of "The Judge," an upcoming courtroom drama directed by David Dobkin ("Wedding Crashers" and "Fred Claus"). The film centers on Hank Palmer (Downey), a high-powered lawyer who only takes cases he knows he can win — cases that pay big, fat paychecks. In other words, cases where he's representing the very wealthy and very guilty elite of society.
But Hank falls down a few pegs when his mother passes away, sending him back to the small hometown of his youth for her funeral. There, he reunites with his estranged father, Judge Joseph Palmer (Robert Duvall), a man he never once saw eye-to-eye with. Their already tenuous relationship comes under even heavier fire when the Judge stands accused of murder, leaving his hot-shot son to defend his case.
"This is the kind of movie I grew up wanting to make," Downey said of "The Judge" when he posted the trailer on Twitter. "It only took 49 years."
