Ed Sheeran Says Hilary Duff's Album Is 'Not What You'd Expect'

'Obviously she comes from 'Lizzie McGuire' and that pop world, but she's more grown up now,' Sheeran says.

Ed Sheeran not only writes his own songs -- one of which, "Even My Dad Does Sometimes," premiered today on MTV (with three more to be revealed in the coming days) -- but he serves as a songwriter for other artists we know and love. In fact, according to a recent interview the "Sing" crooner did with Digital Spy, he's putting time in with Demi Lovato, Jessie Ware, Rixton, One Direction and Hilary Duff.

"I feel like her record is not what they will expect," Sheeran told the website about Hilary, reflecting on her years as a Disney star. "Obviously she comes from 'Lizzie McGuire' and that pop world, but she's more grown up now, so it's more of an adult alternative acoustic sound."

Sheeran and Duff teamed up in the studio back in May to work on her upcoming "earthy, indie-pop" album, which is expected this fall.

"I think it'll be cool," Sheeran said, admitting he was never really a "Lizzie McGuire" fan, but loves "Come Clean." "She's been gone for so long living family life that I think there are a lot of fans waiting for something new."

MTV News got the scoop from Duff at Wango Tango last month, and she explained what it's like to be back.

“It feels good to be in the studio. It feels good to be talking about my last few years — the high points and the low points,” she told MTV News. “I really just want to be honest and be an open book for my fans to know where I’ve been and what I’ve been doing, how I feel and all that good stuff. So, I should have a single soon and an album by the fall.”
