'16 And Pregnant' Poll: Should Courtney Stay True To Her Pledge Of Abstinence?

Her decision not to have sex pushed away boyfriend Scott, but she said it only strengthened her faith.

A young mother's decision to become chaste tested her romantic relationship on tonight's episode of "16 and Pregnant."

Religious high school senior Courtney had planned to wait until she was married to have sex, but that changed after she started dating Scott. She soon became pregnant, prompting Scott to invite her to move in with him after their son was born. But Courtney resisted, saying she didn't want to be tempted to have sex before marriage again -- and stressing that she wanted Scott to share her morals.

"The religious part of it is, we should wait for somebody to know that we love each other and to know that it's not lust," Courtney said. "The way I look at it is, if you wait for me, then I'll know for sure that you want to be with me."

Later, the mom-to-be admitted over a family dinner that choosing chastity was a "hard" decision but one that was eased by her faith. Scott, meanwhile, told his mother that even though there was no swaying Courtney, he couldn't give up on someone he loves.

Courtney eventually changed her mind about moving in with Scott -- but not about the abstinence. That caused tensions to reach a new high, especially after the arrival of Baby Dayton. During one particularly heated argument about caring for their son, a frustrated Scott brought up the sore subject.

"Sex isn’t the only thing going on in our relationship," Courtney said.

"No, it's a major thing," Scott replied, causing Courtney to storm off into their bedroom.

After the pair had calmed, they reconvened for a level-headed talk, and Courtney posed a difficult question: "If we didn’t have Dayton, and I wanted to be abstinent, would you stick with me?"

"I don't know, honestly," Scott responded.

It wasn't what Courtney wanted to hear. "That’s depressing," she said. "[It] makes me think you just want to be with me because of Dayton."

Was that the truth? Only Scott knows the answer, but Courtney's suspicion doesn't bode well for the couple's future -- especially when they have such a fundamental difference of opinion about sleeping together.

+ Should Courtney take Scott's feelings into consideration and reconsider her no-sex rule, or should she stay true to her pledge? Vote in the poll and sound off in the comments.
