2 Chainz, Drake And 7 Other Reasons Why We Love Atlanta’s Birthday Bash

Welcome to Atlanta.

There’s nothing like Hot 107.9′s Birthday Bash concert in Atlanta, Georgia. On Saturday (June 14) Rick Ross and Future will headline the annual ATL jam at Phillips Arena.

While ever major city throws their own radio-sponsered, all-star concert, there’s something about Atlanta’s version that keeps us coming back — actually there are quite a few somethings that keep us coming back.

The Turn-Up

There’s no standing around at Birthday Bash, and things got particularly turnt-up when 2 Chainz took the stage last year. Be prepared to sweat.

The Surprise Guests

You never know who’s going to show up. Last year Drake shocked Atlanta when he stepped out to assist 2 Chainz with his set.

The Fashion

Where else are you going to see Trinidad James wear a kitchen apron? The Bday Bash outfits get outrageous.

The Stunts

During Birthday Bash 17 Lil Wayne hit the stage with Kelly Rowland and kick-pushed his skateboard back and forth. It was a moment that will go down in Hot 107.9 history.

The Beef

For the most-part Birthday Bash is a joyous occasion, but then there are those shocking moments, like when T.I. dissed Lil Flip during Birthday Bash 9.

Centennial Park Block Party

The Birthday Bash Block Party is fun for all ages, last year the folks at Hot 107.9 got the Goodie Mob to play Centennial Park before the big show started.

Southern Legends

Every year Birthday Bash plays host to at least one Southern vet, and we’re thankful for it. We could watch Pastor Troy perform “We Ready” every year.

New Local Talent

A great hip-hop station knows how to support local talent and with Birthday Bash, Hot 107.9 always gives the new guys a shot. Last year we got to see Stuey Rock and Rich Homie Quan before he blew up across the country. This year we can’t wait to see We Are Toonz.

Some Good R&B

It’s isn’t just rap at Birthday Bash, you’re going to get some good R&B too. In the past Usher, Chris Brown, Keri Hilson, kelly Rowland and Monica have all given us performances that we’ve fell in love with.

Mentally been many places, but I'm Brooklyn's own. Hip-hop gives me life!
