Kendrick Lamar Likes The Album Title The Internet Made Up For Him

K. Dot says he's currently 'cooking' his new album up.

Just about everyone is waiting on Kendrick Lamar's new album. So much so, in fact, that what turned out to be a false title was rumored and then widely reportedly last month.

In a recent interview with KMEL, K. Dot reiterated that he doesn't actually yet have a title for the follow up to good kid, m.A.A.d city, but he was impressed by what the Internet came up with.

"It's one called American State of Alarm -- which was kinda hard, though!" he said prior to his performance at the Bay Area Summer Jam on June 8. Though he wasn't spot on with his memory of the title -- the rumor was that it would be called United States Of A.L.A.R.M. -- the T.D.E. rapper was impressed. "It was somebody clever. I thought that was cool."

And so when can fans expect to hear that still-untitled album? “It’s in the process. We cooking,” the Los Angeles native said in his typically unforthcoming manner. “I couldn’t say. I couldn’t give a false pretense on where I’m at...I can’t even give a date or a time, but it’s going to be an event.”

When the fact that T.D.E.'s CEO announced in late 2013 that the label would be dropping six albums this year -- including Kendrick's -- came up, the 26-year-old didn't outright shoot down the idea.

Hey, we can hope, right?
