Here's Why Stripping At Your High School Graduation Is An Awesome (But Ultimately Terrible) Idea

Here's everything that you graduates need to remember when the big day finally arrives: Walk onstage, accept your diploma with one hand, shake hands with the other, smile awkwardly at your fam, walk offstage. Optional: Don't trip.

On Wednesday (June 11), Jack Britt High School graduate Quinton Murphy found out the hard way what happens when you go off-script -- which, in his case, meant stripping off his cap and gown for a celebratory pants-off dance-off.

Unfortunately for the young man from North Carolina, this action has cost him his diploma, the Fayetteville Observer reports, although neither his graduate status nor his transcripts will be affected. #phew

Maybe it's my inner '70s art teacher talking right now, but is such a symbolic shaming really that necessary? If it were up to me, Mr. Murphy would receive a medal for his bravery and uninhibited self-expression! (OK, it's definitely my inner '70s art teacher talking right now.) Still, it's not up to me to determine what happens to a student who goes streaking at graduation, so remember everyone:

Don't get naked at graduation.
