It's been more than a year, but given their allegiance, fans of My Chemical Romance may still be mourning the end of one of the most influential, unpredictable and, in some ways, audacious rock acts of their generation.
Frontman Gerard Way, however, is ready to move on.
Way -- who was the lead vocalist for MCR for 12 years and four dynamic but equally great albums -- released his first solo single since the split on Wednesday (June 11).
Last month, Way confirmed that he had inked a deal with Warner Bros., and that his solo debut is "near completion."
"I am continuing full-steam into comics, art, and more importantly to some of you -- music. I am pleased to let you know I am now signed as a solo artist [to] Warner Bros Records," he wrote on a blog post on his website in May. "My album is near completion, and you should expect to hear things in the near future, even today actually -- with a brief snippet of what is to come. I am excited. It’s starting again."
