Now that Marvel's "Doctor Strange" has a director in "Sinister" helmer Scott Derrickson, it seems two major actors might be in contention for the lead role of Stephen Strange.

Hint: it's not Johnny Depp, a "Community" cast member, or Jared Leto.

Deadline has revealed that Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hardy are both on Marvel's early cast list.

We're intrigued by the picks, in part because each actor could embody a separate side of the Doctor's personality. We're envisioning Cumberbatch as the brilliant neurosurgeon and Hardy as the all-powerful Sorcerer Supreme. Only time will tell if Marvel nabs one of them, or if they have to scroll further down their wish list (we still think Edgar Martinez should be on it!)
