From what he can tell, every Jon Stewart takes a vacation from the "Daily Show" it seems like there's some kind of horrific mass shooting incident during his break.
On Monday night Stewart was back from a week off and instead of trying to figure out the motivation behind last week's deadly rampage by Elliot Rodger, Stewart decided to avoid the usual suspects (video games, godlessness, divorce, social awkwardness), sidestep the typically empty calls from politicians to actually do something about gun violence this time and just move on to acceptance that gun violence is a fact of life.
"You see people, acceptance, that's where we were trying to get all along!" Stewart said. "It's like America has a dog that's always s----ing inside the house, and we solved the problem by getting a brown rug." Watch Stewart offer help to the real victims: the news networks who have to cover this inevitable cycle of violence.
