James McAvoy Thinks The X-Men Could Beat Up The Avengers

And Professor X would make them take off their clothes

With Reporting by Josh Horowitz

James McAvoy might have just started a super-feud between the X-Men and the Avengers.

McAvoy, who reprises his role as Professor X in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," had some fightin' words for the Earth's Mightiest Heroes on the red carpet.

"It's good that 'X-Men's' finally coming out so we can raise the bar again this year," McAvoy said when asked about the Marvel supergroup. "Those guys are good, but this is where it starts."

Ok, so McAvoy still had some praise for the Avengers there. But when asked whether the X-Men or the Avengers would win in a cage match, the star thought it was a no-brainer.

"There's like 40 of us, and like five of them," McAvoy explained. "And one of them's a half-man half-robot: you just turn off the power and he's done."

We're sure Robert Downey Jr. might take some issue with that one, but what about the other Avengers? Could any defeat the X-Men? McAvoy didn't think so.

"Another one's a guy with a shield who's a bit strong. I mean, come on," McAvoy said. "Guy with a bow and arrow? We've got guns and stuff, [Wolverine's] got claws. I could just go like 'sit down,' and they'll all sit down... I could be like 'take your clothes off, and they'd all be taking their clothes off.'

"It would be a disaster."

Could the X-Men really defeat the Avengers? Let us know in the comments!

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" is in theaters May 23.
