Tha Carter V season is upon us.
On Wednesday (April 30), Floyd Mayweather posted a short video on his Instagram with the caption, “#CarterV Season #BelieveMe.” The video itself featured black-and-white shots of Lil Wayne and Drake in a studio, feverishly nodding their heads to whatever was blaring over the speakers ‒ likely something off of Weezy’s upcoming 11th solo album.
The post came just two days after Tunechi tapped Kobe Bryant to launch some promo. On Monday, the basketball star, whose relationship with the rapper has been well-documented (Wayne even dedicated a song to him), posted “Carter V season begins #carterV” on Twitter, along with a graphic.
Though Weezy’s manager, Cortez Bryant, tweeted to clarify that the image was not the actual artwork for the album, the post created a buzz no less.
We don’t know exactly when the album will drop (we know it won’t be May 5, like initially reported), but we do know that the album is on the way.
In March, Weezy told MTV News that he was hard at work on the project. “I say it’s different, because I’m older and wiser, and I know more things and I know more about myself now,” Wayne said. “I’m more careful about what I’m doing and trying to be more careful what I’m saying. It’s awesome; it’s coming together dope. I think the Wayne fans are gonna like it.”
What exactly were Lil Wayne and Drake working on in the video? Hopefully we’ll find out soon.
