Watch Zach Braff Get Punched In The Face In 'Wish I Was Here' Trailer

A lot of other things happen too.

Get in the car, we're going back to "Garden State."

Zach Braff returns as star and director in his new movie "Wish I Was Here," which seems to be something of a spiritual sequel to his 2004 debut, if the just-released trailer is anything to go by.

Braff, best known for his role on TV's "Scrubs," grabbed headlines when he decided to use Kickstarter to fund production of the new movie in order to retain creative control during the filmmaking process.

This is what creative control looks like: Braff-tastic. While there's a distinct lack of wallpaper-shirt coordination, those who saw "Garden State" a decade ago will notice certain similarities: The Shins serve as the soundtrack the teaser (is this song changing your life right now?), Braff's character is a washed-up actor and the sense of Instagram-filtered melancholia is inescapable.

That's not to say that we won't be in the theater with the most emo 16 year olds who are going to tell their friends how much they really feel this movie as soon as the credits start rolling. Because that happened 10 years ago too. History tends to repeat itself.

Check out the trailer above for your first taste of "Wish I Was Here," which follows Braff's character, Aidan Bloom, as he homeschools his two kids while dreaming of being a galactic explorer. As one does.

On top of all this, we also get to see Braff get punched in the face. Since we're all friends here, and friends give friends GIFs, we've included the moment in GIF form so that you can watch it for all of eternity.

"Wish I Was Here" is set to open July 25, 2014. Kate Hudson, Mandy Patinkin, Joey King and Josh Gad co-star.
