The 70-year-old passed away at 9:32 a.m. Sunday, according to a tweet from Daz. He had been battling colon cancer.
"Nate dogg sing a song for junebug as he walks through heavens doors. 213!! All Doggs go to heavan," Snoop wrote on Instagram late Sunday, in one of a string of messages commemorating his fallen uncle.
On March 21, June Bug was given just one day to live by doctors, according to TMZ. That day, Daz uploaded a video to Instagram, expressing a mixture of love and sadness. "On my way to see my uncle June Bugg for the last time," he said in the post. "I love you forever. This your nephew. He was great on this Earth. I love you." Other rappers, like Bun B and Wiz Khalifa offered premature condolences on Twitter.
Although some sent out early "R.I.P.s" on Twitter, others waited until Sunday to send their thoughts.
"RIP Uncle June Bug. Always fun hangin with him & @SnoopDogg #RealPlayers," Too $hort wrote.
DJ Premier expressed similar sentiments: "@SnoopDogg just heard about Uncle Junebug...R.I.P. He always remembered my name no matter where he saw me in the world... #SuperG."
June Bug was often a fixture at Snoop's shows. Whether dancing on stage or posing for pictures, he kept it upbeat. He also appeared in Snoop's 1996 video, "Snoop's Upside Ya Head."
