50 Young Adult Film Adaptations, Ranked From Worst to First

We rated the 50 best young adult novel-to-film adaptations of all time, from 'Harry Potter' to 'Twilight' and beyond.

Given all the doom and gloom surrounding young adult novel adaptations at the box office, you'd think it was a dying genre. Except given the presumed success of "Divergent," and the fact that "young adult novel" isn't actually a genre so much as an age group, it's far from the end.

Why is this the #1 YA adaptation of all time? To paraphrase the Dread Pirate Roberts, "There's a shortage of perfect movies in the world... It would be a shame to damage this one." Romantic, funny and exciting; there's not a bad moment in the feature, with classic performances that will last a lifetime. It helps that veteran screenwriter William Goldman adapted his own book, but Rob Reiner's direction — including one of the most memorable sword fights in film history — makes this a classic.

Do you agree? What's your #1 pick for best YA adaptation of all time?
