MTV’s Musical March Madness: Linkin Park Plan To ‘Slam Dunk’ The Competition

The 2014 #MMM tournament tips off Monday, and Linkin Park are in it to win it.

Linkin Park have been an institution in MTV’s Musical March Madness tournament from the very beginning … and though they’ve competed hard each year, the #MMM title has eluded them.

But, as we get set to tip off the 2014 tournament on Monday, March 17, LP are determined to make this the year they finally reign supreme; and, like their brand-new single “Guilty All The Same” suggests, they’re recommitting to their roots to bring home the championship … not to mention taking a few pointers from their Carnivores tourmates — and 2013 MMM runners-upThirty Seconds To Mars.

View and share this year’s #MMM bracket!

“As usual you gotta have that strong defense,” LP’s Mike Shinoda told MTV News. “Thirty Seconds To Mars has a great chance of going all the way because those guys have a great coach, the staff is really strong. I think they spent their money wisely and they’ve put together a good little team.”

“I do think with Jared winning the Oscar , it’s a slam dunk for Thirty Seconds To Mars,” Chester Bennington added.

Hey, if their pun game is any indication, 2014 may very well be Linkin Park’s year — though we wouldn’t count out fellow #MMM competitors Tokio Hotel, Imagine Dragons and Fall Out Boy just yet. Of course, before they can win the 2014 tournament, they’ve got to make the cut.

And that’s where you come in.

Because this year, for the first time, we’re letting fans pick all the bands for MMM 2014: You can tweet your picks @MTVNews using the hashtag #MMM.

We’ll be watching all week, and then, on Monday, March 17, we’ll unveil the full bracket of 64 bands at MMM.mtv.com.

So, if you want to see Linkin Park come out on top, you better nominate them! Oh, and it probably wouldn’t hurt to rally the troops, either; make sure to spread the word on Facebook and Twitter, and check back in on Monday, March 17, when MMM 2014 officially tips off!
