For those of you out there who have been eagerly awaiting the followup to SBTRKT's self-titled 2011 debut: Well, you have a while more to wait. In the meantime, however, the masked musician dropped a new EP Tuesday (March 11) and it's currently streaming for the price of free.
excited to share TRANSITIONS - an ep of instrumental music I've made over the last year -> http://t.co/gkQ02yHW9L— SBTRKT (@SBTRKT) March 11, 2014
According to Pitchfork, the UK producer plans to release a series of instrumental tracks leading up to the arrival of a brand-new record. The series is called Transitions, and will be released over the course of three records.
The physical versions of Transitions I, Transitions II and Transitions III come out on May 5, May 19 and June 2, respectively.
"This is music written over the last year, whilst recording for my second album," SBTRKT said in a press release. "Much of the music I released before my debut album was instrumental and I want to continue to share this side of the music I make."
The EP is what we've come to expect from the dreamed-out electronic musician also known as Aaron Jerome, albeit a bit more stripped-down sans vocals.
Details about the musician's next LP are still scare, but given the aural landscape of Transitions, the shift from debut to sophomore should be plenty interesting.
