Secrets From The ‘Transformers: Age Of Extinction’ Set Revealed

Mark Wahlberg and the rest of the cast talk explosions, car crashes and football.

When MTV News visited the set of “Transformers: Age of ExtinctionMark Wahlberg, were all very careful to not talk too much about the new Michael Bay movie, set for release this June. Walhberg, in particular, was careful to speak generally about the plot and to not give away any secrets early.

Well, now that the first trailer for “Transformers: Age of Extinction” is out there in the world, things we heard on the set make a little more sense.

See, before we saw the trailer and found out that Wahlberg’s character, Cade Yeager, finds Optimus Prime broken down and beaten badly, his statements on set were kind of confusing.

“I don’t know what I’m allowed to say. I find something, and then I start working on it. I find something that I think will help me as an inventor,” Wahlberg said. “Things that I can use to apply to my own inventions and the technology is something that I just think is a huge deal for me. I start tinkering with something, and it gets a little crazy.”

After watching the first full trailer for “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” it’s clear that Wahlberg is referring to Optimus Prime, and Cade hopes the alien technology will help him provide for his family. But when the bad guys come calling, things spin out of control.

Excuse me, they spin out of control, through a barn wall and do some really good flips and stuff.

At the heart of the story this time is Cade looking to keep his daughter (Nicola Peltz) safe from what appearance to be an enormous Transformer that’s trying to eat the world. (Unicron?) On the set, Wahlberg told us it was that aspect of the movie that interested him most. “I really love the human element,” he said. “Michael’s bringing all of this other stuff to life and seeing it happen has been great.”
