'Godzilla': The (New) King Of The Monsters Is Finally Revealed

Magazine cover shows off full look at titular monster.

For weeks now we've seen teasing looks at the rebooted giant monster in "Godzilla." And now thanks to a cover for Empire Magazine, we've got our first good look at the titular Kaiju:

...And he looks pretty much exactly how you'd expect Godzilla to look. Which isn't surprising, necessarily, but it is something fans have been asking for since the more lizard-like look Gojiru adopted in the much maligned 1998 American remake.

Though this look is more traditional, it is notable that for a monster that has mostly been portrayed by a man in a rubber suit, this CGIed Godzilla does seem slicker looking, and is certainly opening his mouth much wider than a puppeted one ever could.

We don't know a lot about the plot of the new movie, other than it involves a giant monster, is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Aaron Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston and more.

"Godzilla" opens May 16.
