Things don't look so good for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) in the new international trailer for "Amazing Spider-Man 2." Not only does he have to deal with new threat Electro (Jamie Foxx), but his best friend Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) reveals that Harry's Dad has been watching Peter almost constantly.
And if that wasn't enough, there's two more villains:
The new trailer starts with an extended take on the previously glimpsed scene where Spidey swings through New York, showing off some of the high-flying acrobatics that are the hallmark of the 3D series. Accompanying this is audio of New Yorkers who, since the first movie, now love Spider-Man... Except one guy. That one guy is Max Dillon, the blue, lightning bolt shooting villain also known as Electro.
"You wanted to be the hero," Electro says. "Now you gotta pay the price."
Then we're treated to more extended takes on some of the scenes from previous trailers: Aunt May (Sally Field) knows secrets about Peter's dead parents; Electro attacks Times Square; the Green Goblin fights Spidey in what looks like a clock tower; and briefly the Rhino (Paul Giamatti) shows up to cause some mech-suit related mayhem.
Also, observant members of the audience may notice at 2:10 in the trailer, Green Goblin seems to be flying towards the place where Spider-Man is fighting Electro at the end of the trailer. The campaign has been teasing that, "Enemies unite..." So is this where it happens? Will we see Green Goblin, Electro and Rhino all teaming up to take down Spider-Man at the same time?
We'll find out when "Amazing Spider-Man 2" opens in theaters on May 2.
