Happy Birthday, Rihanna!
Everyone's favorite Bad Gal turns 26 today, and MTV News wants to help her celebrate ... but what do you get for the girl who has everything? How about her very own Throwback Thursday?
Yes, in honor of Rihanna's second quarter-century, we're opening up the vaults and bringing you our first-ever interview with her ... from way back in 2005, when she was just starting to break thanks to the song that would become the first of her many hits: "Pon de Replay."
In just eight short years, she's become one of the most iconic performers on the planet. But back in 2005, she was still trying to make a name for herself in the pop game. And while most were curious to see where she'd go, Rihanna always knew that she was destined for greatness ... and determined to work her tail off to get there.
"I can't tell you where I see myself in five years, but I can tell you I will work my best to be the most successful artist I can be," she told our cameras. "[I want to be remembered] as Rihanna, the artist from the Caribbean that came here and made it internationally ... remembered as me, because I'm true to my music."
She certainly is. So on her 26th birthday, let's celebrate all of Rihanna's accomplishments ... and wonder what else she's got in store for us as her career continues onward and upward.
